Harto, also known as Arturo Fernandez Rodriguez, is the creative mastermind behind the centrepieces for our Genesis Drop Campaign: the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Eggs.
Wondering why we chose Eggs as the NFTs for our upcoming Genesis Drop Campaign? We’re glad you wonder because the reasons are clear. Here’s the story behind their creation as well as a deeper look into the world of their creator: Arturo Fernandez Rodriguez aka. Harto.
There’s a powerful connection between Harto’s work and Project Ark’s decision to create ornate 3D eggs in four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Both are fuelled with purpose to spotlight and reverse the declining state of our natural habitats by using NFTs as a force of nature to find new pathways for a better world.
I like to explain that I live in a generally colorful way, with a certain tendency towards nature, since my family always took me to the mountains when I was little. Although sometimes my style can be darker or critical, not everything is flowers and happiness. Protecting nature and endangered species is crucial to the survival of the planet. It’s time to fix all the centuries of man-made disasters and work on projects that improve the ecosystems that we’ve impoverished and devastated.
As far back as he can remember, Arturo has been painting things and creating stuff. Initially somewhat reserved about the thought of sustaining himself purely as an artist, he opted for a design degree at a university in Spain as it seemed like a good mix between art and technical creation. Yet by coincidence, his life took an interesting turn in 2017 when he seized an opportunity to work as a scenographer-slash-designer and comedian at a theatre company in France. Coupled with an everlasting passion for photography and his entry into the world of NFT art, it is safe to say that Arturo draws his inspiration from multiple different references enabling him to create truly multidisciplinary pieces across a plethora of mediums.
I think that blockchain technology is still at a very early stage, and when I discovered your project and we started to develop the ideas of the eggs, I think you were the first project that was interested in natural conservation and protected species, or at least it is the only one I know. This shows us that we are facing something new and that it has great potential, I am very happy to be able to help and spread the word. It is very interesting to see how your reward system benefits both the artist, buyer and community-led project, enabling everyone to finance projects that help protect the earth.
Proceeds from the sale of the Eggs in the Genesis Drop Campaign will unlock the funding needed to support a community-led conservation project led by WWF in Romania that brings back the bison to the wilder side of Europe — the Carpathian Mountains. The funding will also be used to develop the digital infrastructure making the link between the global participants and the local do-ers, both in terms of tracing funds, impact and enabling participatory decision making.
Harto drew inspiration from the century-old Romanian tradition to design these incredible pieces of digital art. Painting eggs is an Easter tradition ingrained into the history of Romania with different styles and meanings evolving throughout various communities around the country over the years. Painting these eggs is a skill few have mastered, with some Romanian artists having transformed these hollowed-out eggs into unique works of art exhibited all around the world. Though egg decoration is standard throughout Romania, the region of Bucovina is most famous for its intricate designs and colours. Two museums dedicated entirely to presenting painted Easter eggs can be visited in this region. In Vama — The Egg Museum — and in Moldovita — the International Museum of Eggs Lucia Condrea, each with thousands of eggs exhibited.
