Seasoned from an early age to master the techniques of oil painting, watercolor and encaustic wax, Hazel has built up a name in the digital art space for several years now. This nature lover creates beautiful and immersive digital pieces that include virtual and augmented reality experiences where she expresses the full potential of her creativity.
Across the variety of mediums that she masters, there is a common red thread to Hazel’s artistic adventures: she always puts creativity at the service of conservation and nature. Take for instance her immersive digital artworks, produced in dedication to support the underwater corals, which precisely underscore her passion to protect our natural world.
It was a no-brainer for Project Ark to team up with Hazel and have her join Project Ark’s founding artist pool. A perfect match!
I’ve been passionate about creating and conservation ever since I was about 8 years old. I would spend my birthday money on buying an acre of rainforest so it couldn’t be cut down. I would spend hours creating elaborate fairy gardens from moss, sticks and other found objects. This project {Project Ark} couldn’t be more perfect for me!
One of her first digital accomplishments was to create psychedelic universes for the multiverse experience at the Burning Man festival. Pushing boundaries and opening up new ways in which art could be viewed and experienced was both the intention and reward behind this experiential piece of digital artwork.
Since then, Hazel has produced a series of imaginary landscapes in which fantastic vegetal forms bloom and come to life. These landscapes are nothing less than the fantasized representations of our inner states. The artist explores the mysterious layers of our intellect, our deeper memory and connection to nature. She uses an aesthetic that is imbued with poetry and hints to ancient mythology. Hazel’s creation and first collab with Project Ark is precisely an inner immersion that takes us into a magical fantasy world.
